Igil Wotanshand was a fanatical Anatal priest, who desired to become immortal like the Ascended his people worshipped. He committed ritual suicide through hanging in the bog pits of the Aassumpf. Instead of becoming an immortal, he became one of the Ancient Dead, one of the Strangled to be more specific. Unable to come to grips with his undead nature, Igil lives in denial, deceiving himself (and those around him, if they'll listen) into thinking he has ascended. Furthermore, he attempts to command the Strangled around him like they were his inferiors. However, they seldom listen save when they are commanded via his unholy power.[1]
