Sometimes variously taking on the form of terrain, animals, or shadowy men-at-arms[2], the Darque are bloodthirsty and predatory regardless of the forms. Darque creatures can engulf foes, grow limbs to gain more attacks, and possess a number of shadow related special abilities. Despite their fearsome powers, the Darque can be held at bay by light, though they may also attempt to destroy light sources[3].
The Darque are entities dwelling in the Mists[4]. They are known to inhabit the Hollow and answer the summons of the Last in the Heart of Darkness[5]. Normally they are kept out of the Well of Life by the Ambient[6].
