Jaidev Matra is the founder and patriarch of Matra in Sri Raji. He has seen Matra grow from a waystation to a village thanks to his hard work and advantageous location.[1]
Jaidev Matra is married to Yamini and the father of Oropati.[2]
Ironically, then, Jaidev Matra has little liking for visitors. His favorite guests are the ones who have spent the money and left. In particular, he doesn't care for the East Rajian Trading Company because he feels that the Easties are trying to encroach upon his territory. (To be fair, they are.) Furthermore, he is caught between the Dark Sisters and the Stalkers. Because he is desperate to avoid offending either faction, he will show actual politeness to anyone whom he suspects of belonging to one or the other.[3]
