The sea is . . .
The practice of "burying" sailor, and others who have died aboard ship, at sea, whether with or without proper rites, makes of the sea a vast grave. Those who are sent off without proper rites risk surviving that grave, particularly as incorporeal varieties of undead, such as geists and ghosts. Those rare individuals who return as corporeal undead take the shape of lacedons, sea zombies, or even jolly rogers.
