The practice of "burying" [[sailors|sailor]], and others who have died aboard [[ship]], at sea, whether with or without proper rites, makes of the sea a vast grave. Those who are sent off without proper rites risk surviving that grave, particularly as [[incorporeal]] varieties of  undead, such as [[Geist | geists]] and [[Ghost | ghosts]]. Those rare individuals who return as corporeal undead take the shape of [[Lacedon | lacedons]], [[Sea Zombie | sea zombies]], or even [[Jolly Roger | jolly rogers]].
