The Vale of Tear is one of Darkon's six regions, that in particular of central eastern Darkon with the Vuchar River crossing it lengthwise, Maykle lying at its heart, Delagia found just within its southern frontier, Karg found towards its western frontier, Neblus found beyond its northwestern frontier, the Lake of Lost Dreams found just beyond its north frontier, and Nevuchar Springs lying beyond its eastern frontier. The surrounding regions are the Mountains of Misery to the south, the Boglands to the west, and the Mistlands to the north and east. The region passed into the control of Yako Vormoff, based in Karg, during the absence of Azalin Rex.

The region is dominated by the valley of the Vuchar River.
