The Counting Man of Barovia is a ghost that haunts the Village of Barovia. In life the individual was a successful but cold and cruel moneylender. In death he wanders the streets of the village on the anniversary of his death in the cloth of a begger seeking a coin for his cup from everyone who crosses his path. Those who pay are left unharmed. Those who do not are attacked, sent screaming into the night, and aged.[1]
