During the time of Death's dominion over all of Darkon, Azalin's essence had been scattered to the ends of his domain. As he tried to reconstitute himself enough for conscious thought, his influence brought nightmares to people across Darkon. These nightmares usually took the form of spectral forms reaching out to touch people. As Death tried to devour his essence, people experienced the feeling of being swallowed up by endless darkness.[1]
