The Crimson Death Epidemic was a lethal plague that struck Darkon in the autumn of 688 BC and killed an estimated 1 out of every 5 Darkonians. It is thought to have originated in the Boglands, though how it originated is unknown. Though on the decline by the spring of 689 BC, the Crimson Death still remains a threat to adventurers who trespass against the tombs of the sick. For stats, see Gazetteer II.[1]
Among its victims were Geordin and Katalia, of the same family, and Helga, the great-aunt of Rudolph van Richten’s whom he tried, but failed, to save.
