Okraina is a chilly domain of large forests and hills. Fey infest the wild areas, eager to dissuade those that transgress their territories.[1] The people of this domain are at home in the cold[4], although perhaps not so much with the great economic divide between the nobility and the peasantry of the land. The peasants frequently become rowdy and intoxicated with vodka. The boyars keep dissidents in line with their militias. Nonetheless, there is an aura of civil unrest in the air.[2]
The people of this land venerate Belenus, though they know him as Yarilo. The Church of Yarilo is a force to be reckoned with, so much that Prince Vasili the Cruel is in a power struggle with it.[2] Although politically powerful, there does not seem to be such a widespread panic of the supernatural or the unusual here as there is in other domains dominated by the Church of Belenus. For example, half-elves, though very rare, are viewed as especially favored by the fey and are even believed to bring good fortune.[5]
