The leader of the Kosti Tribe in the Northlands, Jarl Gravesten Hansen is both the ruler and the darklord of the Northlands. A good ruler, neither in morality nor skill, he is not. Throwing aside the old system of city sharing with the Gand Tribe that his ancestors had worked hard to create. In his desire to wipe them out and claim the land as his own through blood and steel, Gravesten taxed and embezzled from every source he could, systematically taking apart whatever he needed to fund his crusade.[1]
Both by nature and by curse, Jarl Hansen is doomed to fail as a social leader, much less a ruler. He is highly adept at matters of soldiering and strategy, but at statesmanship he falls on his face. The Gand still linger in the shadows, and Jarl Hansen has some vague doubts but isn't entirely aware that he is not of pure Kosti blood.[2]
