Mechanical Information
Overview
The Church of Yutow is the main religion of Valachan. The faith venerates Yutow the Peacebringer, also known as the Dead God for sacrificing his own life to end the Pacification. Although he died, his watches the world from ontop of the moon.[1]
With the possible exception of minor spirits, the Church of Yutow is monotheistic and denies the existence of other deities as frauds or mistaken perceptions of Yutow dogma. Like the Lawgiver, Yutow is a god of law, obedience, and loyalty. As such, his faithful are expected to adapt to life as it is just like Yutow, for the facts of life are preordained. As Yutow is also a god of nature, to stand against what is natural is to commit the worst blasphemy against him. Panther spirits are seen as representatives of his will and are thus seen as holy.[1]
Yutow's clerics, the moarnekone, can expect to gain respect for their office.[2] They are seen as diplomats and negotiators[1] whom must abdicate the traditional Valachani values of self-reliance and loyalty to family in order to embrace community and overall social welfare. They forsake living ruggedly off the land in order puruse their duties. As such, although their position may be be respected, they themselves as people may be met with disdain.[2]
