Gertruda resided in the village of Barovia. She was the daughter of Mad Mary but escaped her mother's confinement and ran away.[1][2] For a time, she resided in Castle Ravenloft where she was (unknown to her) Strahd's captive. Oblivious to danger, she made no effort to leave, but she may have been rescued by adventurers.[3][4]
