Originally Tarnos Senma, Tarnos Shadowcloak is the oldest and most senior of the Umbra, the Fathers of the Fraternity of Shadows. He is the only remaining original member of the Fraternity. Although feared and respected by the other Umbra, he is rarely seen because of his reclusive behavior.[1] He presently resides in the House of Fallen Leaves in eastern Vechor, where he is conducting experiments on the nature of reality. He is a friend and ally of Easan the Mad.[2]

Surprisingly, Tarnos cares little for the Fraternity's traditions. He sometimes sponsors female recruits, bards, and even nonhumans should they meet his criteria, mysterious and unknown as those might be. (This makes sense, as these restrictions came after he went into seclusion). A brilliant and profound philosopher, Tarnos is unfortunately hindered by his overactive paranoia.[3]

Tarnos Shadowcloak has failed several powers checks and is following the Shadowmaster Path of Corruption.[4]
