The Jolly Roger is an undead, spectral (though still corporeal) remnant of a pirate officer or ship's captain.[1][2] As such, they can be seen leading the walking dead, usually sea zombies[1] or normal zombies[2], whenever encountered. Other than their ability to command, they are characterized by their skeletal, smiling visage and disturbing laughter.[1][2]
Jolly Rogers are able to raise and command from the sea floor ships that sunk long ago, regardless of their physical condition. They accompany the mists at times when they roll in from the ocean onto a coastal town or settlement.[2]
