"Red-Haired Witch"

The woman known to Jonathan Ambrose as the "red-haired witch]] brought about the destruction of his parents. When Jon was ten, the witch came to the Ambrose family's inn looking to kill a guest lodging there, a wizard known as Timon. She transformed Jon's mother into a cat to throw off Timon. With Timon distracted, the witch struck him dead with her magic and then road off on horseback, cackling all the way. Jon's father attempted to find a cure for Jon's mother, but the effort proved futile. He then went after the witch, but his hunt only ended his life. This was the reason why Jonathan holds such a great contempt for magic.
