Stonegard is the fortified seat of the Bolshnik family and of its patriarch Prince Othmar. It sits on the north bank of the Vaughn Dnar River and the east bank of the Dnar River, opposite, to the south, Kantora and, to the east, the southwestern most corner of the Ehrendton. The Dnar does not, however, merge with the Vaughn Dnar straight from the north so as to form a right angle. Instead it merges with the Vaughn Dnar from the northwest, forming an accute angle. Stonegard is built into this angle. Its walls form a triangle with only its northwest facing wall not being protected by a river.
Prince Othmar prefers to avoid the Prince's Palace in Kantora as much as possible, instead ruling Nova Vaasa from Stonegard.
Communication between Stonegard and Kantora across the Vaughn Dnar River is almost certainly going to be by boat. The river is too deep at this point to be forded and any bridge that could reasonably be thrown across it would prevent the small ship that can sail up the Sydligdnar ("South Dnar River") from reaching Kantora's docks. Communication between Stonegard and the Ehrendton across the Dnar is probably going to be by boat too. Although it might be shallower and might not host river traffic of any great consequence.
