In Expedition to Castle Ravenloft, Doru was the son of Danovich, but one day brigands murdered him. In his grief, Danovich let himself become corrupted by a partial copy of the Liber Blaspheme, and he used that dark tome to try to bring back Doru from the dead. However, Doru arose not only as a blaspheme but also one that carried a horrible necromantic pox that is ultimately the cause of the zombie outbreak in Barovia.[1]
