Costal Barbu was a barber and healer operating in Orașnou and the father of Luca Barbu. Costel was killed and eaten by Eugen Adi for failing to remove his unnatural hunger, although Costel's fate went ultimately unknown by the populace. Sometime close to the murder, the Barbu family received an invitation to the manor of Marilena Fidatov for protection along with a magical ring imbued with a remove curse spell to protect Costel from Eugen. Sadly, the items arriived too late. They were left in the hands of Luca, whom never opened the letter because he was unable to read.[1]
