Firkin are changelings that are created by, and therefore take after, the fir.[1][2] Like their creators, firkin make for excellent engineers and crafters of clockwork and mechanical contraptions[1][2], including traps[1][2], locks[1][2], and even firearms[2], provided their mortal predecessors were skilled in these fields.
Though unfit for combat, firkin may build and prepare alarms and traps. Such devices are particularly hard to disable[1]
