Leah (of Oerth)

Leah is an evoker wizard known by her associates for an affinity with fire. She is a former adventurer from Oerth. She was also once the compatriot and lover of the paladin Dungannon Jeratte. However, she was kidnapped by an evil wizard. Dungannon and several other adventurers liberated her, but not before she lost her hand to a fiend conjured from the Abyss. The maiming was so cursed that no healing magic could restore her hand. She thus withdrew from the life of an adventurer.

Consumed with the desire to avenge Leah, Dungannon took a personal quest to enact retribution upon the evil wizard. Dungannon successfully took the wizard prisoner, ultimately murdering him. The act of murder caused Dungannon to fall from grace as a paladin. Consumed with shame, Dungannon refrained from seeing Leah for years.

Leah eventually married another person, though her husband turned out to be an abuser and oppressor, holding her captive against her will. She thus has sent a letter to Dungannon requesting extraction and liberation. This was enough to spur Dungannon and his associates into action, but they were taken to the Demiplane of Dread.
