Ysolt Bleysmith was the middle child of Count Rupert Bleysmith of the County of Staunton in the Kingdom of Mourette. She had fallen in love with Oudart Gilson, the second-in-command of the Avergnite army. Because of her attempts to find peace between the Stauntonians and the Avergnites, she was outside of Castle Stonecrest on the night of the Avergnites' invasion. Moreover, due to a technicality in the spell which Sir Torrence Bleysmith used to compel the Stauntonian civilians to rise up against the Avergnite soldiers, Ysolt was the only Stauntonian (apart from Torrence) to survive the subsequent slaughter.[1]
In the aftermath Ysolt married Oudart Gilson and started a family. They raised at least one child, Alardus Gilson, but likely had others as well, given that the blonde hair of "the Gilson line" still occurs among the population of Staunton Bluffs.
As a member of the Bleysmith family who never departed Staunton Bluffs, Ysolt Gilson has presumably been drawn to Castle Stonecrest as a ghost.
