As a dread possibilities the Mudman of Bergovitsa is actually be Desmond LaRouche, an alchemist and physician formerly in the service of Tristen Hiregaard. Desmond’s research focused on the alteration and purification of the soul, a branch of research that Hiregaard took a very personal interest in. Presumably Malken took a dim view on his efforts on the part of Tristen. Given his name and secondarily his profession, it is probable that he is from Dementlieu or perhaps Richemulot. Whatever the chemicals did to him, they presumably did not make him a half-golem.
