The Via Strigos ("Rawboned Road"), which is more popularly known as the Strigos Road, will join the East Timori Road at Liara to the Argenteus Road and the Tempe Road just west of Tempe Falls. It is actually the reopening of a pre-existing route from Darkon destroyed during the Scourge of Arak. At that point in the history of the Core, however, the road connected to the Old Svalich Road in eastern Barovia.

Strigos Roads cuts across the Mountains of Misery and the Forgotten Hills. It will cross the Amnis Lacrimarum ("River of Tears") southwest of Mount Nirka and skirt the western flanks of Mount Nyid. The date of completion, or even the state of progress, is unknown. Several new bridges and tunnels are required however. Trade along the road will confront not only the challenges offered up by the Mountains of Misery, but equally that of Nova Vaasan taxation which is even more punititve than that of Falkovnia.

The Great Upheaval in 740 BC made possible the building of the Strigos Road by relocating the Arak east to the newly opened gash upon the face of the Land of Mists that is the Shadow Rift. Their relocation and the disappearance of the land of Arak as such, permitted the subsumption of the Mountains of Misery into Darkon, moving the Darkonian frontier south to that of Nova Vaasa. Prior to this change, the fool who dared spend the night within Arak would be carried off before the dawn.
