Alcoholism is an addiction to alcohol which borders on being at once a disease and a madness. Alcoholics quite simply live to drink. They are obsessed by the thought of their next drink, have an impaired capacity to stop themselves from having another drink, are undeterred by the difficulties resulting from having that drink, are unable to reason effectively about their need to have that drink. The hold of alcohol on the life of a victim of alcoholicism may either be unflinching or periodic. It is not, in any case, easily broken.

Their intoxication or drunkenness, but not their addiction, may be ended with a neutralize poison spell.
