The Black Iron Shield ("Negerjern Afskaerme") is a hilly lowland in south western Hazlan where all the soil has been entirely eroded away, exposing bedrock with rust red tints for it is rich in iron. The Black Iron Shield is transected by the shallow canyon of the Musarde River and lies north of the Misty Border, south east of Rodskoven ("the Redwood") of Kartakass, south of the Beni Gigantsmark, and west of Skraplans. The Black Spire is found at the frontier between the Black Iron Shield and the Misty Border.
