Silphium is a plant native to Borca. It is now all but extinct in the wild, such was the demand for it, but it may be found in gardens, where it is a commonplace. Silphium has been transplanted successfully to, among other places, Paridon. Its resin is of particular use to the dread doppelganger community.
Silphium resin is a poison, a drug, and a medication derived from the silphium. It is popular as a general curative of some effect again minor ailments. Its principle merit, however, is as a means of birth control when dissolved in wine. Siphium resin prevents conception and it terminates, within several days at most, any existing pregnancy. It is used by the dread doppelgangers of Paridon to terminate doppelganger-pregnancies or to prepare a women for such a pregnancy.
