These are probably standard doppelgangers (i.e. outlander doppelgangers) as no material featuring dread doppelgangers had been published at the time these sources were printed.

The standard doppelganger is an accomplished imposter, deceiver, and manipulator, although less so one than the dread dopppelgander. The standard doppelganger does not exist in Paridon, home turf of the dread doppelganger. If it exists at all in the Land of Mists, it keeps a low profile for there is no record of it. The existence of the dread doppelganger was exposed in 742 BC during the 13th murder spree of Bloody Jack Very few if any biologists would manage to distinguish the two species. Indeed, dissections are only known to have been performed on the dread doppelganger.
