In life, Thalib al-Jalah was a holy paladin and the one who bound Al-Khymer to his iron flask using a magical scroll. After imprisoning Al-Khymer into the iron flask, Thalib discarded the flask into the bottom of an oasis and cursed Al-Khymer never to escape until he had performed no less than 101 and one boons for humankind. However, Thalib was killed shortly thereafter by warring desert warriors.[1]
Since his death, Thalib has watched over his scroll as one of the ancient dead.[2] Undeath has throughly corrupted the former paladin[3], and he is unafraid of animating innocents as desert zombies in order to make sure Al-Khymer stays imprisoned or destroyed.[4]
