The Shadow Fiend is not a shadow fiend (that is to say, not a shadow demon), but rather a shadowy fragment of Gwydion that somehow managed to squeeze through the Obsidian Gate before it snapped shut on its master. Now, at the urge of Gwydion, the Shadow Fiend seeks to create a dimensional lock pick for its master in the form of the Regalia of Gwydion. However, it cannot stray too far away from the Shadow Rift without draining the life force of living creatures.[1]
