The giant rat, also called the dire rat in 3rd Edition,ref>Monster Manual (3.5 p.64</ref>, is a larger version of its normal [[rat|kindred].
Giant rats appear when the borders of Richemulot close[1][2]. They can be frequenntly encountered across many domains including the following:Barovia[3], Forlorn[4], Hazlan[5], Kartakass[6]
They are all too frequently encountered in the domain of Nosos.[7]
