A Dread Possibility, the Lodestone might be an ancient artifact located deep beneath Toyalis, created by the El-Koth. Magical traps and constructs may make it very hard for sages to discover the truth of what the lodestone does: grant advancement in the sorcerer class in return for suffering madness effects, as described in Gazetteer I^[1]
