The Bowlyn is an invisible, ghost-like creature who haunts ships. It is the angry spirit of a sailor who has returned for vengeance.
The Bowlyn acts like a poltergeist, staging accidents and wreaking havoc on the ship. It can stay invisible or manifest itself visibly as it so chooses. They do not manifest immediately, their spirits reappear around the anniversary of their death.
