Vort is a necromancer and Vassalich, loyal to Azalin, who tried to corrupt Dr. Rudolph Van Richten as retaliation for the offense he wrongly perceived his master felt for the details van Richten printed on Azalin in his guide to the lich.To this end, he murdered Werner Ruscheider and assumed his identity, hoping to dupe van Richten into murdering (relatively) innocent people (the Seekers operating Foucault Musical Library) by making him think they are vampires.[1]
