A crimson death is a undead of fog and mist-like form with some roughly humanoid features, such as a head and two arms but no legs. It sustains itself by drinking the blood of the living[1][2], leading sages and other necrologists to speculate the death of a vampire can cause the birth of a crimson death.[1] Usually white in color, a Crimson Death that has feed takes on a more crimson or reddish color[1]ref name="MM II p. 53">Monster Manual II (3.0) p. 53</ref>, 
likely giving the creature its name.
A crimson death attacks with misty tentacles, from which it can drain the blood of its opponent. Despite its gaseous form and incorporeal subtype, a crimson death can physically lift objects and creatures as if it were solid.[1][2] Crimson Deaths therefore tend to be quite fond of kidnapping potential victims and dragging the unfortunates back to their lairs to be consumed.[2]
Crimson deaths can be encountered in the domain of Avonleigh.[3], Hazlan[4][5], and Sithicus[6].
