Aberrations are instances of life.
They are mortal creatures that eat, drink and sleep. They are thoroughly dependent on chemical energy, overwelmingly derived from other living things. Biology does not recognise the abberation type per se. Members of this type do, however, readily admit of study by the intripid biologist as instances of aberrant biology. Members of this type also admit of study as especially puzzling instances of abnormal anatomy and abnormal physiology. Aberrations are a cause of concern for the Thaani, the dwarves of the Mountains of Misery, and those in or on the fringes of subterrean enviroments. The Knowledge (dungeoneering) skill may yield knowledge concerning these monsters.
