Mummification is a process whereby a corpse is dried and preserved. The process can occur naturally in certain environments, notably bogs. Several cultures, particularly the Akiri, have developed methods for the mummification of corpses as part of their rituals of burial. Mummification is an essential step in the process whereby anicent dead are created.
