Mill Pond

A pond is used to collect water, typically for later consumption. A mill pond is used to accumulate potential energy in the form of water for later conversion into kinetic energy in the form of running water which is used to turn a waterwheel and power a machine, typically a mill. Mill ponds are found in the company of water powered machines along waterways that could not otherwise reliably furnish the necessary power.
