Rivtoff Family

The Rivtoff family owns the Ivlis Duchy in central Nova Vaasa. Castle Everwatch, the fortified seat of the family, stands near the center of the Tordenmark ("Thundering Plain").

The family's patriarch is Duke Søren Rivtoff.

The Rivtoff family is one of the five noble families that ruled Nova Vaasa by rotating the position of prince among their respective patriarchs in a process named the Cycle of Stewarts. In 729 Kethmar Bolshnik was serving as prince when he died in office. His son Othmar Bolshnik became prince in his sted, under the tutelege of a regent at his father's request. At the end of the Bolshnik term of office, the regent, Sir Tristen Hiergaard, stepped down but Othmar refused to do likewise, claiming that the regency had robbed him and his family of their turn. By remaining in office, Prince Othmar broke the Cycle of Stewarts. He remains in office today.
