Sentinel bats serve undead as minions analogous to how familiars serve wizards. A sentinel bat has the special abilities of its master, save for spawning undead. In addition, they can communicate with normal bats and dire bats and quickly relay this information back to their masters. A undead bonded to a sentinel bat can also see through the bat's senses if the undead master so chooses.[1]
