Lady Fiona Wachter

Lady Fiona Wachter is an NPC from the 5th Edition module Curse of Strahd. In CoS, she is the influential matriarch of the Wachter Family in Vallaki. A loyal servant of Strahd, she seeks to usurp the power of Baron Vargas Vallakovich. She lives in Wachterhaus

Relationships

Fiona Wachter is the wife of the now deceased Nikolai Sr. and the mother of Stella Wachter as well as Nikolai and Karl Wachter. She absolutely adored her husband whom perished several years ago to disease, but she keeps his corpse in their bed and preserves it nightly with gentle repose. Fiona sleeps with her dead husband each night. However, her relationships with her actual living relatives are horrible. Fiona's cruel and abusive exploitation of her daughter Stella ultimately caused the girl to become mad and think she is a cat, so Fiona keeps Stella confined. Nikolai and Karl are all too eager to get away and get drunk during the day to avoid their mother's barbs. They always return at night, dragged down by intoxication.

In an effort to overthrow Vargas, Lady Wachter started a fiendish cult and masquerades it as a "book club". Lady Fiona also employs a spy named Ernst Larnak as a spy, though his loyalty is only good so long as their relationship seems good. Given the right circumstances, he might blackmail her. The one relationship she does not keep secret at all is her (and the Wachter Family's) loyalty to the master of their dread land, Count Strahd von Zarovich.
