For a time a ghost in the Demiplane of Dread, Talaric Daoran was a character originally from the Forgotten Realms setting. On Faerun, he was the son of Cvaal Daoran, Phlann's leader. In 1383 Dale Reckoning, Talaric made a pact with the fey of the Quivering Forest to help defend Phlann in the case of invasion. In return, Cvaal promised to keep intruders out of the Quivering Forest. In 1456, Talaric violated this treaty by breaching the forests with a group of woodsmen. Jeny Greenteeth, a hag and one of the leaders of the fey, punished Talaric with death. Over a century later, when Jeny and much of the area surrounding Phlann was brought into Barovia by the Mists, the Dark Powers revived Talaric as a ghost to menace Jeny Greenteeth.[1]

Jeny Greenteeth may have later recruited some adventurers to lay Taloric's ghost to rest permanently. To do so, they would have had to complete a lengthy ritual, all the while fending off an attack from Strahd Zombies and normal zombies.[2]
