Roberto Obando

Robert Obando is the patriarch of the wealthy merchant Obando Family of Nueva Aragona (Resistencia in particular). In the War for Independence, he was first a quiet royalist but then switch sides when it seemed that the republic partisans would win in the war. For his assistance, he was made governor of Resistencia.

Although Resistencia is theoretically part of a Republic in general and of Nueva Aragona in specific, Robert only makes a pretense of belonging to both. In practice, he is temporal leader of a government structure that can best be described as a mercantile oligarchy. Robert is an exploiter of the laws such that he can squeeze the most of those below him.

Like the rest of the Obando Family, he is actually a vampyre.
