A morgue is a medical facility for the temporary stocking of cadavers. Ideally, it features subzero temperatures. The cadavers may be awaiting autopsy by a coroner, dissection by medical researchers, or collection by family. A morgue is usually found in the basement of a building that serves such larger purpose.
