The ruse fell short of its mark but ended brutally nonetheless with the mauling of Gennifer Weathermay-Foxgrove and her (as yet unknown) infection with lycanthropy. The deception and paralysis of George in the moment of Natalia's unmasking has left him with a grievous spiritual wound that will not heal, perhaps not even with her death, which he has sworn himself to effecting.
